It Started With a Problem

At BonusKI, we regularly conduct audits, consulting sessions, and workshops. Every time, the same story: someone frantically takes notes, half of them get lost, and three days later nobody remembers the details.

The solution seemed obvious — a meeting transcription tool. There are plenty of those, right?

But then we looked closer.

The Problem With Existing Solutions

Almost every major transcription service processes your audio data on US servers. For an AI consulting company handling confidential business data, that's an absolute dealbreaker:

Internal strategies discussed in an audit? Sent to US servers.
Client names and financials from a consulting session? Stored by a US cloud provider.
Employee conversations with sensitive HR topics? Not GDPR-compliant processing.

We couldn't find a single tool that met all our requirements: EU servers, no US services, genuine GDPR compliance, and the quality of modern AI transcription.

So We Built It Ourselves

BonusVoice was born as an internal tool at Bonus Service BS GmbH. The requirements were clear:

Servers in Germany (Hetzner, Nuremberg/Falkenstein)
AI processing in the EU (Mistral AI, France)
Not a single component hosted by a US provider
Automatic summaries with key points and action items
Speaker recognition that assigns real names
Full-text search across all transcripts

After weeks of development and real-world use in our own audits, we realized: This tool is too good to keep to ourselves.
